What is Pellevé and how does it treat skin?

Pellevé is a skin tightening treatment, popular for its gentle, relaxing process and permanent results.

It is non-invasive and painless and comes with no downtime, making it the preferred choice for busy people who like their skin treatments quick, easy and safe.

Interested? Here’s what you need to know about Pellevé.

What is Pellevé?

Pellevé is non-surgical procedure that is used to tighten skin that is losing its elasticity.

During the Pellevé treatment, a practitioner moves a small instrument across the treatment area several times.

The procedure, which uses monopolar radiofrequency (RF), gently heats the skin to approximately 40 degrees Celsius.

Some pressure is applied and the instrument is warm, but it’s generally a pleasant treatment, often likened to a hot stone massage.

How does Pellevé treat wrinkles and fine lines?

Pellevé uses radiofrequency technology to heat the deep layers of skin. The heat causes collagen in the skin to contract and tighten, ‘ironing out’ wrinkles.

It also stimulates the production of collagen, which plumps out fine lines and wrinkles and gives the appearance of hydrated, dewy skin.

It does all this without damaging the top layer of skin.

Over time, new and better-quality collagen is formed which leaves you with smooth, glowing skin.

Which areas does Pellevé treat?

At Bass Coast Skin Doctors, Pellevé is our go-to treatment for fine crepe skin around the eyes, as its gentle effect makes it ideal for delicate skin.

Pellevé can also be used to treat saggy skin on the neck, under the chin and around the jaw, on the chest, and around the eyes and mouth.

What can you expect after a Pellevé treatment?

Some patients experience slight swelling or redness after a Pellevé treatment, but nothing too noticeable.

The procedure is minimally invasive, with little pain or downtime, and many people schedule their Pellevé for during their lunchbreaks and then head straight back to work afterwards.

How long does Pellevé last?

Generally, people see results from the treatment immediately after one treatment, but best results are achieved through multiple treatments.

An initial course of Pellevé usually involves two to three treatments, about two months apart.

Pellevé involves remodelling collagen, and this is permanent. Be aware though that the struggle against ageing and gravity is ongoing, so maintenance treatments may be required from time to time. When and how often will depend on the individual.
